2019 Vińalba Reserva Red Blend Valle de Uco Medoza Argentina

Thu, Jun 01, 23

Hervé J. Fabre, born in Bordeaux, arrived in Argentina in the early 1990s 's. He saw the potential of the Argentine terroir, so he purchased a number of old-vine vineyards, including one planted in 1908. In 1992 he built his first winery in Lujan de Cuyo, near Mendoza, and christened it Fabre Montmayou.  In 2007 he built a second winery, and named it Vińalba.

2019 Vińalba Reserva is a blend of 80% Malbec and 20% Cabernet. The vines average 45 years old for the Malbec and 10 years old for the Cabernet Franc. 60% French oak for 12 months and 40% is kept in stainless steel. The bouquet offers plums, blackberries and black raspberries and a nuance of floral/herbal notes. The mouthfeel is supple and round. Flavors of plums, black cherries, black currants and finishing with a chocolatey, spice driven structure. The perfect wine for grilled steak drizzled with chimichurri sauce.
