Another Perfect Summer Wine!

Fri, Aug 18, 23

Some people are born to rebel, and the apple never falls far from the tree. In 1980 Luis Pato inherited this same spirit when taking the reins at the family quinta from his father. Joäo Pato was a pioneer in Portugese winemaking, with a vision and attention to detail to farming, viticulture, and winemaking that bordered on obsession. One could easily say that Joäo Pato is to Portugal, what Robert Mondavi was to America in terms of influence. Luis was joined by his daughter in 2005, who along with her father has continued to push the winery to new heights that are limitless.

2022 Luis Pato Maria Gomes Vinho Branco Bairrada DOC, has just landed at Bevy's, and we are excited to introduce you to this wine. Crafted from 35-year-old vines of an ancient heirloom varietal known as Fernāo Pires throughout Portugal, but known as Maria Gomes in this region. Zesty aromas of citrus, mineral, spices, floral notes and a hint of salinity burst out of the glass. The mouthfeel is a three-ring circus of flavors! Very versatile, so you can drink this with some cheese and crackers, light delicate fish dishes or even fried chicken. This is yet another perfect summer wine.
