Two fantastic Australian wines sure to impress you

Wed, Jan 31, 24

Forty years ago, Trevor and Marilyn Harch had their first taste of Barossa Shiraz and rest is history. Trevor was then owner of the second largest family-owned construction company in Queensland, Australia. First, he purchased the historic Tanunda Cellars bottle shop, then they decided to expand their wine connection by getting involved in wholesale and retail liquor sales in Queensland. Later they opened Brisbane's premier wine bar, aptly named Bar Barossa. In 2007 they purchased a slice of paradise in Barossa's Eden Valley, and Brockenchack Wines were born. I am so excited by the price to quality ratio here, that I am reviewing 2 wines!

2019 Brockenchack Wines Charli Jaye Chardonnay Eden Valley is sophisticated and balanced with aromas of lemon peel, white stone fruit and pear. The mouthfeel is very focused with flavors of citrus, pear, and pink lady apple leading to a fresh and lively finish. It rivals French burgundy wines that cost up to 3 times the price.

2018 Brockenchack Hare Hunter Pinot Noir is an elegant wine with aromas of raspberries, cherries, cranberries, black tea, and a nuance of white pepper and fresh spring herbs. The mouthfeel shows an abundance of bright red fruits and spices framed by a beautiful structure and silky finish. Another example of Australian wines that can go toe to toe with the French.
